Tofu in Tomato Gravy

Tofu or soyabean curd has high proteins and low fat. It has little flavor or smell fn its own, so it can be used for making gravy dishes, snacks or even desserts, just like cottage cheese or paneer. I made this tofu version of shahi paneer and it came out very well. Here I am sharing the recipe with pictures...

Tofu In Tomato Gravy

Ingredients :

Tofu - 200 gms, cut in long cubes
Tomatoes - 5, chopped
Onion - 1 chopped
Garlic- 2 cloves
Green Chilly - 1
Ginger Garlic paste - 1/2 tbs each
Turmeric powder, coriander powder, Garam masala - 1/2 tbs each
Kashmiri Mirch - 1/2 tbs
Dried Fenugreek leaves ( Kasuri Methi )- 1/2 tbs
Coriann=der leaves
Salt to taste.
Cumin - 1/2 tbs
Oil for frying

Method :

Wash and cut tofu into long cubes. Heat oil in a wok and slightly fry them for 2-3 minutes only, otherwise tofu will become hard. Take them out and drain off excess oil.

Heat 10 tbs oil in a wok. Add cumin and as it splutters, add chopped garlic, green chilly and saute for a minute. Now add chopped onion in it and saute till it turns transparent. Then add chopped tomatoes and saute it for 3-4 minutes.

Add 3 cups of water and switch off the flame when it boils. Blend this mixture and keep aside.

In a seperate wok. Add 2 tbs oil, add ginger garlic paste, saute and add 1/2 tbs each of coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, kashmiri mirch.

After a minute add blended mixture. Let it boil for sometime and 3 tbs of fresh cream. Again let it boil and then add 1/2 tbs of dried fenugreek leaves.

Now, finally add tofu pieces in it and after 2 minutes, switch the flame off.

Tofu in tomato gravy is ready.

Garnish with fresh chopped coriander leaves.

Serve with Naan, Parantha, simple chapati or rice.

Hope you enjoyed !!!
